Our People of Power Path series gives you a chance to meet the people behind the work—the personalities, experiences, and passions that make our team special. This time, we’re introducing someone who plays a big role in keeping Power Path Logistics moving forward: Jessica Williams, our Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Jessica is a Chicago native and proud mom to a son in high school who keeps her busy—and these days, she has taken on an additional role as his driver’s education instructor! When she’s not working or helping her son navigate high school and driving lessons, Jessica enjoys swimming and working out. Jessica says her family would describe her as bossy, organized, and protective—three qualities that probably come in handy when you’re a COO!
Jessica loves a good steak especialyl from her favorite restaurant Red Lobster, and she is a big fan of R&B music. Her favorite movie is the original Coming to America, and when it comes to sports, she proudly cheers for the Chicago Bears. And what always makes Jessica smile? Her bed. Honestly, we can all relate!
Halloween is her favorite holiday, which shows because she throws a killer Halloween party here at the warehouse every year. Her weekends are usually spent doing projects on her house, cheering for her son at his football games, and entertaining. But her ideal weekend is simple: spending time with her family.
Jessica also has an adventurous side. Something she’d like to learn someday? Skydiving! Although she already has a pretty ambitious answer for her dream job: if she could try any career for one day, she’d choose to be a neurosurgeon. It’s just like Jess to *not* take the easy route, even when daydreaming. And if she could have a superpower? Jessica doesn’t want to settle for just one. She’d want all the superpowers, with the ability to mirror other people’s powers!
Jessica had a successful career in compliance and banking before she joined Power Path Logistics in 2019. She came to us after seeing a job posting through Revolution Workshop. Since then, she has become an important part of the company’s growth and culture. Her typical workday is anything but typical. As COO, Jessica handles a little bit of everything—from employee and HR matters to program management and implementation. She reviews procedures and policies, works on RFIs, supports our customers, and, as she puts it, handles “anything else Maria wants me to deal with.”
That flexibility is actually one of the things Jessica enjoys most about working at Power Path Logistics. She appreciates the work-life balance and flexibility that allow her to do her job while also being there for her family.
One of the things Jessica values most about her experience at Power Path Logistics is the opportunity to work in a diverse environment. Over the years, she has learned how important it is to understand each person’s individual skill set, recognize what they can bring to the table, and support them as they grow. “I’ve learned a lot about how wonderful it is to work in a diverse environment, working with people to understand their skill sets, pulling those out of them and supporting them so they can grow.” That philosophy is a big part of what makes Power Path Logistics different. We believe that when you take the time to understand people and give them opportunities to succeed, everyone benefits.
When asked what accomplishment at work she is most proud of, Jessica points to something that is incredibly important to Power Path: our relationships with our customers. Jessica has worked hard to build strong rapport with our clients—and those relationships have led to new opportunities. “They continue to give us new business, introduce us to other folks who give us new business.” For Jessica, success isn’t only about completing a project. It’s about building trust, delivering for customers, and creating relationships that continue to grow.
Jessica has some great advice for anyone starting their first job. First, understand the company culture. Then, pay attention to the opportunities around you. Look at what the company offers in terms of career development and support, and make sure you’re building relationships with people you respect and admire. Her biggest piece of advice? Don’t be afraid to try new roles. You never know where a new opportunity might take you.
For Jessica, being a good teammate starts with accountability. It means doing your part, motivating others to do theirs, staying focused, and asking questions when something isn’t clear. In her words, being a good teammate means: “making sure you’re holding yourself accountable and that you’re doing your part, motivating the team to do their parts. Remember to stay on task and if things are not clear, ask good questions.” It’s advice that applies whether you’re working in the warehouse, supporting a customer, managing a program, or leading an entire organization.
One Last Question…If Jessica won a million dollars, the first thing she’d buy would be her dream home. And if she could travel anywhere in the world? Paris. So perhaps someday we’ll find Jessica enjoying a steak, listening to R&B, cheering on the Bears—and planning her next adventure in Paris. Until then, we’re lucky to have her right here at Power Path Logistics.
