A great workplace is about more than the work itself. It’s also about the people beside you, the customers you’re serving, and the sense that everyone is working together toward something bigger. For Thomas, his journey at Power Path Logistics has been about exactly that—and about putting the right puzzle pieces of his life together along the way. Thomas joined Power Path on October 4, 2022. He originally came to us after his brother told him about the company. He started on second shift, working in kitting, but quickly realized he wanted to do more. And we wanted more of Thomas too!

Today, Thomas plays a key role in managing fulfillment for Power Path Logistics’ customers and supporting the team that makes it all happen. And when he talks about what he’s most proud of, his answer goes far beyond his work. It’s his daughter and the progress he’s made in his life since joining Power Path Logistics.

Looking back, Thomas feels like joining Power Path Logistics was an important turning point for him. “Ever since I started working here, I feel like I’ve been putting the right pieces together in my life. With my daughter, with my family, things have perfectly come together. “It’s a powerful reflection—and one that says a lot about what meaningful employment can provide beyond a paycheck. For Thomas, work has become one piece of a bigger picture that includes family, stability, personal growth, and pride.

Thomas grew up in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, where most of his extended family still lives just a few blocks from one another. He remembers spending his childhood running around the neighborhood and being surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. His grandfather was the glue that held the family together. One of Thomas’ favorite childhood memories involves a particularly memorable family adventure: he and his cousins nearly blew up his grandfather’s house while trying to move a kerosene tank! Thomas is the baby of the family, which means he still gets plenty of teasing from everyone. Today, Thomas lives in the suburbs with his daughter, who recently started third grade. And when he’s not working, he says he spends every minute he can with her. She’s involved in gymnastics, loves dance, and participates in poms. The two of them also enjoy going to concerts and movies together.

When asked what three words his family would use to describe him, Thomas chose: Fun. A foodie. Loving.

Thomas began his Power Path career in kitting. Since then, he’s learned the ins and outs of our warehouse management system, our various programs, and the systems we use to support our customers. Today, he manages fulfillment for all of our logistics customers. His day starts by printing packing slips and mobilizing the team to begin fulfillment. Once the team is underway, Thomas shifts his focus to customer service and customer requests—an important part of his day. He’s also a resource for the warehouse team, helping answer questions and troubleshoot whatever comes up during fulfillment. In just a few years, Thomas has gone from learning the fundamentals of kitting to becoming familiar with nearly all of our customers, programs, and internal systems. That’s something he’s particularly proud of. “I started by working in kitting, and now I’m familiar with almost all of our customers, all of our programs, and the systems we use to help make them successful.”

When asked what he enjoys most about his work, Thomas didn’t point to a particular task or responsibility. He pointed to the team. “My favorite part is how well all of us work together here. It’s the biggest differentiator between here and other places I’ve worked. We all feel like we’re in it together. We work well together and care about each other.” That’s the heart of the Power Path Logistics culture! Fulfillment is a team sport. Orders move from customer requests to systems to packing slips to the warehouse floor and finally out the door to the customer. Every step depends on people communicating, helping one another, and taking ownership. Thomas plays an important role in keeping those pieces moving. In fact, he was the inspiration for this post about complimentary football and how that applies to us in the warehouse.

One of Thomas’ biggest accomplishments since joining Power Path has been learning our warehouse management system. For someone who started in kitting, understanding the technology, programs, customers, and processes behind our operation represents a tremendous amount of growth. But Thomas isn’t simply interested in knowing how things work. He’s focused on making sure all of the pieces work together so our customers receive the service they expect. “I’ve been trying really hard to keep all of our internal components in line to service our customers the best.” That mindset is essential in logistics, where a small disconnect in one part of the process can affect everything downstream.

Outside of work, Thomas is a big sports fan. He’s a Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears fan, and if he could try any job for a day, he’d have a tough choice: Manage the White Sox—or coach for the Bears. When he’s relaxing, you might find him watching UFC fights or heading out to go fishing, which is his favorite way to spend a weekend. He’s also a self-described foodie, although his favorite food is a classic: pizza. (Ask him how he earned his warehouse moniker, Pizza Rat!) His favorite restaurant is El Campeon in Cicero. His favorite holiday is Christmas—not just because it’s Christmas, but because it’s his daughter’s birthday, too. And if Thomas could hop on a plane and travel anywhere in the world, he’d choose Hawaii.

Thomas has learned a lot since joining Power Path, and his advice to someone starting their first job is simple: “Flexibility is key and it will get you everywhere you need to go.” It’s advice that Thomas has put into practice himself. He started in kitting. He learned new systems. He took on new responsibilities. He grew into customer service and fulfillment management. And he continues to adapt as Power Path and our customers grow. That flexibility has helped him become an important part of our operation.

Thomas’ story is a reminder that work can be about much more than what happens during the hours we’re on the clock. The right opportunity can become part of a larger journey—one that brings new skills, new confidence, new relationships, and new possibilities. We’re proud that Power Path Logistics has been one piece of Thomas’ journey. Thomas, thank you for keeping our customers’ fulfillment moving, supporting your teammates, learning new systems, jumping in when things need to get done, and helping create the team culture that makes Power Path Logistics special. We’re proud to have you as part of the hive.
